See some of the most famous “Star Cars” to appear on the big screen in the “Automobiles in the Movies” exhibition. Some of the most notable cars included are: Back to the FutureDelorean, the Batmobile, Thelma and Louise Thunderbird, and the Ferrari 308 from Magnum P.I.

Automobiles are some of the most notable props in film history, with countless movies featuring cars as the subject of the film or as a device to introduce romance, adventure, or comedy. The first film with an automobile as the central piece of the plot was the 1903 British film Runaway Match. The film follows the story of a couple who use a car to elope and escape the meddling of the woman’s father.

The most memorable scene is when the father’s vehicle breaks down as he pursues the couple, but it also serves as a comedic example of how cars influence culture and their importance is reflected in cinematic history.
