Introduced in 2012, the Model S offered a unique combination of luxury, practicality, performance and energy efficiency. The flat undercarriage holds the battery pack, while the rear of the chassis holds a large electric motor. All-wheel drive models have a smaller rear electric motor that is supplemented by a second unit positioned between the front wheels. Some models can travel 265 miles between charges.
